The past decade has seen a significant resurrection. Many young families are moving back to the Northern and Western Suburbs of Melbourne, and our Shul, centrally located is the only one north of the Yarra. The Shul is also providing services for an increasing number of city workers, as well as interstate and international tourists, students, and those with loved ones in nearby hospitals.
East Melbourne Shul has a new responsibility. It has become a critical part of Melbourne’s Jewish and communal landscape – a place to daven, to learn, to perform mitzvos and chesed – a place for the wellspring of Torah and Yiddishkeit to flourish once again.
To respond to this new opportunity the Congregation has embarked upon an ambitious program of renovation and expansion.
